In order to maintain a balanced perspective, we need people to spend time in micro mode and<\/em> in macro mode. Without the two perspectives, our solutions will fall short.<\/p>\n

Micro Thinking<\/h4>\n

When we\u2019re too focused on micro thinking<\/strong>, we neglect larger, environmental conditions. Therefore, we risk implementing solutions that are narrow in their application and that quickly become obsolete.<\/p>\n

Macro Thinking<\/h4>\n

When we are too focused on macro thinking<\/strong>, we may overlook key details that make the difference between success and failure. Here, the risk lies in implementing solutions that fail to resonate or that neglect the most important issues.<\/p>\n

Either of those outcomes will have a negative effect on others\u2019 confidence in us. The result? We won\u2019t be viewed as competent\u2026which means we won\u2019t be trusted.<\/p>\n

We need leaders worrying about both. If it\u2019s not your job to worry about both<\/em>, then make sure somebody else is worrying about the other<\/em>.<\/p>\n

When in the moment, examine how these two concerns are related. The alignment of market forces (the macro)<\/em> and specific work (the micro)<\/em> creates a magnetic condition where the most talented people will choose to spend their time.<\/p>\n
