Our Leader
Steve Harris is the founder and President of The People Advantage, LLC, a firm that helps leaders whose success depends on increasing the alignment of their organizations. He is an experienced business professional with a broad consulting skill set and expertise in linking the strategic needs of the business to results-producing activities. He excels at providing solutions that produce immediate performance improvement and build sustainable capability for long-term value. Steve’s advanced understanding of organizational alignment and his ability to lead through the entire lifecycle of change (strategy to planning to execution) form a differentiating skill set. His commitment to strong personal values enables him to be a trusted partner.
Since the creation of The People Advantage, Steve has had the opportunity to work in a variety of sectors, including manufacturing, financial services, technology, education, religion, and public service, as well as with various business associations. His work has focused on projects that are important to the strategy of his clients and that call for a stronger alignment between the workforce and the direction of the organization. Examples include strategic planning, organizational assessment, organizational effectiveness, talent management, coaching, leadership development, and cultural alignment.
Prior to forming The People Advantage, Steve worked in the financial services industry for 14 years with National City Corporation and PNC and in the steel industry for 11 years with The Timken Company. He held a variety of leadership positions in HR consulting, executive compensation, executive programs, HR M&A, pay for performance, and expatriate programs. While in his HR consulting roles, Steve was the HR leader for businesses that ranged from 15 to 12,000 employees. He served as the HR strategy expert, confidant and coach to the business leaders, and primary point of accountability for all HR services. He was also a member of the business and HR executive leadership teams.
Steve received his Bachelor’s degree from Muskingum College, with a double major in Computing Science and Business. He also holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration with a Management concentration from Akron University. Steve has completed several continuous learning programs related to HR strategy, change management, human resource planning, and employee relations and is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR).
Steve has enjoyed many leadership opportunities in not-for-profit organizations, including schools, church, and professional organizations. He currently serves as the President of the Board of Trustees for the Cleveland Ronald McDonald House.
