Status Quo… Meet Fluxus Quo
Dear Status Quo,
I just wanted to drop you a quick note to thank you for all that you have done for me. You’ve been there whenever I’ve needed someone to lean on… somewhat like a security blanket.
A shift has occurred within me, so I thought it was a good time to share my thoughts with you. I don’t think we’ll be as tight going forward as we have been in the past. And this isn’t about you… it’s about me.
I’ve met a new friend, ‘Fluxus Quo’. We’ve gotten quite close. While I appreciate that you’ve helped me stay comfortable with the way things are, Fluxus Quo seems to be more relevant to the current times.
You see, I think I’m more affected by the things that are changing than the things that stay the same. When I spend time with Fluxus Quo, I’m reminded that things are constantly in a state of motion.
I realize that even things that stay the same are affected by a strong undercurrent of change. And that sometimes it takes more energy to keep things the same than it takes to go with the change. Remembering that helps me accept my discomfort and not get so stressed out about life.
Hey, I just had a thought! Maybe the two of you should meet! It sounds like Fluxus Quo is sort of the new Status Quo. And after I think about it a little more, I suppose I appreciate you both… just in very different ways.
Thanks for being there when I’ve needed you. You won’t be forgotten.
Sincerely,
Today

As you have stated, we lived in a world of constant change. to maintain the Status Quo is to become irrelevant in a short time. “The Internet changes everything”. Unfortunately change is difficult for most people, depending on your personality type. All change is uncomfortable so we have to help people get comfortable with being uncomfortable. Have to help Leaders/Managers create a “learning organization”.
So please don’t stop writing to us, perhaps just change your focus and help us to manage change. What are the best ways to help initate and implement change in our organizations. How to identify Change Leaders. How to create a strategic plan tthat will help you adapt to the unknown changes ahead. What skills do we have to develop to manage that? What kind of people should we hire now to prepare for that unknown future? What are the basic trends that appear to be leading us into the future?
Fluxus Quo is the key to survival and too many of us don’t know how to deal with it. I’ve devoted my own career to managing change and helping others managing change. Tt can be frustrating at times, but it is also fun and exciting and the satisfaction that comes with success provides psychic income that far exceeds any financial income received.
So Please Steve don’t go away, we need you more than ever.
