A Lens, Some Guts, and a Little Faith
Whenever we make decisions, we strive to satisfy the perceived constraints.
Have you ever had to make a decision when satisfying all of the constraints was impossible? Most of us would answer ‘yes’.
So the burning questions is: How do you choose which constraints to sacrifice? Here’s a lens to use for the decision making process.
Which constraint will have an impact on an important relationship? Don’t choose that one! It may take some guts, but instead choose to give up an interest. Choose to take on more risk. Choose to make something else more difficult.
Choosing any of these other alternatives will produce a temporary effect. Choosing a path that affects a relationship is tempting because it is less tangible. Simple in concept. Difficult in practice. That’s why leadership can be hard and faith that relationships matter is important.
